DrawerGenie is a commodity for Amiga OS that lets you add basic toolbars to Workbench drawer windows. These give you some simple DOpus-like functionality in Workbench, for example, defining a destination window and sending selected files to it, copying and pasting files, switching view modes, sorting files, packing/unpacking archives and more. File operations show a progress bar, are asynchronous and can be cancelled.

DrawerGenie is an entry into the 2023 Amiga Tool Jam in the Commodity category.

DrawerGenie requires Amiga OS 3.5 or newer. It was written using AmiBlitz and full source code can be found at https://github.com/daedalus2097/drawergenie

Version 0.4 is available which fixes a few things: Added Sort by Type option, added support for using drop-down gadgets in the main window, added fix for users with mismatched Workbench / Exec versions, added option to adjust window for the toolbar, tweaked the prefs windows, fixed dropdown gadget alignment and more.

Neat stuff!

Will there be a version for 'Amiga OS 3.0 and OS 3.1' ?

I'm afraid not. It makes use of many features that are only available since OS 3.5. To work on 3.1 or earlier would need a very different approach and heavy patching of Workbench.

What about 3.2.x?

PS Leaving you some mock created by me as an source of inspiration for future versions ;-)

It should work fine on 3.2.x :) Despite the release numbering being lower, Workbench from 3.2.x is a newer version and is backwards compatible with Workbench from 3.9 and 3.5.

Nice mockup :) I think something like that is more in the realm of Lister from OS4, which implements the icon drawing etc. itself, and offers features like the path gadget. Perhaps someone can backport Lister to 3.2 some time... Nice icons though :) When I get back to working on it I'll implement the user-defined toolbars.

Cool! :-)
